This week we are focusing on the first stage of the writing process (Pre-writing) and the techniques great authors have used when getting started inthe process of writing essays. We will also focus on the differences between adjectives and adverbs.

3. Discussion on Writing Process: Notes on the eight stage process, (Pre-write/brainstorming)
4. Moon, William, Least Heat. "A List of Nothing in Particular". The Essay Connection. Bloom Lynn, Z. DC Heath and Company. 1998 (34): Read and annotate the essay. Write in your composition books the reading card. (Cite source, Summary (1/2 page), and Contextual Connection (1/2 page)).
6. Cafeteria Essay: Using the same format as William Least Heat Moon, write an essay using the cafeteria as your subject just as Moon used the desert. See if you can mimic his writing stye. He used very descriptive writing and portrayed the 5 senses in each paragraph making the area come to life. This piece of writing should be nearly three pages in length. Introduce your subject and background, create the list, and then continue the writing giving substance to your surroundings.
7. Read Sylvia Plath (Page 2-7) in your narrative writing packet and annotate. Create a reading card in your composition book (Cite source, Summary (1/2 page), and Contextual Connection (1/2 page). Number your next five pages with the next five calendar dates. Keep an accurate journal as to your daily happenings.
