It covers a wide range of topics. Personally, I found some of it to be helpful, while some of it seemed pointless.  I was hoping English 12 would help prepare me for my next step in life, college.  For example, I fail to see how learning the etymology of words will help me at all in life. However I was pleased to see that writing would be a large part of what we learn in this class.  That is something that will help me write long papers and essays in college. For example, when i look at literature i am not looking for the periods and commas. I look for what the person writting, is really trying to portray. English is so much more then just words, its the way we express ourselves through symbols and soundes. Its an intricate and advanced language, we need to understand it to the point where we can appreciate writting a response like this.
