Rather then finishing it completely I continued on to choose a topic and start to research and compile notes. I have been reading all period. I am finally getting into my book. Today helped me get a lot of pages read. I also started thinking about topics I could do my research project on. I plan to use the next few class periods to research the topic I choose. I am glad we have time to work on this in class because I have a busy week. I was able to focus today in class. It was quiet and easy to read. My book is 700+ pages, and the class time given to us to read was very helpful because I've had way too many things that I've had to do these past few weeks. Due to the length of the novel and the lack of time after school, it took me a little longer than I originally thought to read this book. I think I remember starting my power point at this time also. I probably completed the slides about the book. I should be further along but have taken time for certain parts of the project which should not have been that hard to do. With all the help that Mr Ptcher has given me I should be about done with my project or getting close to finishing.
\nI have found that I need to take time at home to do all the work I have not finished in class. Class time is to give me time for what I have not done at home. Also with the help from Mr. Hinckley I need to have more articles and pices of literature than what I have now. I will start by looking at the paper he has given me to look at useful sources and needed and desired articles and information.
\nNext week is when the project is supposed to be complete. It was a pretty easy task. There were a couple slides I had a little trouble with, though.
\nI finished the protagonist and antagonist slides, which I had trouble with. It was hard to distinguish who had the role of antagonist in On The Road. I came to realize that it was Dean, even if he was also a protagonist.
\nAnother slide I finished today was the themes slide, which ended up being the American West, friendship, and absolute freedom. I had trouble at first because I was just thinking about it too much. It was a great book and I have begun my powerpoint on the novel. I plan on watching the movie when i can get my hands on it. It was hard to pick a social issue because I think the main theme of the book was more a philosophy topic, which was a man really can't do anything to control his own fate. These slides were very easy and look very nice. I am super impressed with myself. Finally once I am done with my book I can also further my research.
